What Are Hearing Aids?
Hearing aids are small electronic devices worn in or behind the ear that amplify sound, helping people with hearing loss hear speech and everyday sounds more clearly. General education only — an audiologist can advise on what applies to you specifically.
Hearing Aid Styles
A quick overview of the common styles — your specialist will recommend the style that fits your hearing loss, ear shape and lifestyle.
Behind-the-Ear (BTE)
Worn behind the ear and suitable for various degrees of hearing loss — clear performance with comfortable daily use.
In-the-Ear (ITE)
Compact device worn inside the ear — discreet and comfortable for everyday wear.
Completely-in-Canal (CIC)
Nearly invisible device worn deep in the ear canal — maximum discretion and a natural look.
Rechargeable
Hearing aid with a rechargeable battery — practical and cost-effective with no need to replace batteries.
How hearing aids work
A hearing aid picks up sound with small microphones, processes it and delivers it to your ear through a speaker (receiver). The processing is the important part: the hearing aid is programmed to amplify the pitches you hear less well, by the amount your hearing test shows, while keeping loud sounds comfortable.
Modern hearing aids also adapt to where you are, for example softening steady background noise or focusing on speech in front of you. How much a given model does automatically depends on its technology level.
Start with a hearing assessment
A hearing aid is chosen and programmed from your results, so the first step is a hearing test. It shows whether there is hearing loss, its type and degree in each ear, and whether anything needs medical attention before a hearing aid is considered.
A starting point by need
Which Danavox families include each option today. Your audiologist confirms what suits your hearing.
Rechargeable
Charged overnight in a charger instead of changing batteries.
More power (Super Power BTE)
Behind-the-ear models built for greater amplification, considered when a hearing test shows more severe hearing loss.
Hearing in one ear (CROS)
A transmitter on the ear without usable hearing sends sound to the hearing ear.
Inside the ear canal (CIC)
Small custom devices worn in the ear canal, depending on ear shape and degree of hearing loss.
Fitting, programming and follow-up
At the fitting appointment the audiologist programs the hearing aids to your test results, checks the physical fit and shows you how to use, clean and charge or change batteries. Hearing aids are then fine-tuned at follow-up visits as you get used to them, because the sounds you have been missing can feel unfamiliar at first.
Every Danavox hearing aid from us comes with a one-year warranty, and after-sales care continues beyond the first fitting.
Children and older adults
Children
Hearing aids for children are chosen and fitted after a paediatric hearing assessment, with close follow-up as the child grows.
Older adults
Hearing changes gradually with age and is easy to miss. A hearing test shows whether a hearing aid would help everyday conversation.
Hearing aid prices in Oman: what decides the cost
We do not publish prices online, because the right hearing aid depends on your assessment. What changes the price:
- Technology level
- How much the hearing aid adapts automatically to noisy and changing places.
- Style
- Behind the ear, receiver in the canal or custom in the ear.
- Rechargeable or disposable batteries
- A rechargeable model includes a charger; battery models need replacement batteries.
- One or two hearing aids
- Depends on the hearing in each ear.
- Accessories
- TV streamers, remote microphones or a remote control, only if you need them.

Hearing aids: common questions
Do hearing aids cure hearing loss?
No. Hearing aids do not restore natural hearing or reverse hearing loss. They make sounds audible and speech easier to follow, and the benefit differs from person to person. Regular wear and follow-up adjustments make a real difference.
Do I need a hearing test before getting a hearing aid?
Yes. The hearing aid is selected and programmed from your hearing test results, and the test also shows whether anything needs medical attention first.
How much do hearing aids cost in Oman?
It depends on the technology level, the style, rechargeable or battery power, one or two hearing aids and any accessories. We do not publish prices; request a quote for a model or book an assessment.
Are there rechargeable hearing aids?
Yes. Several Danavox families include rechargeable models that charge overnight; others use disposable zinc-air batteries. Your audiologist can explain which suits your routine.
Is there a warranty?
Every Danavox hearing aid from Jordan Hearing & Speech comes with a one-year warranty. What it covers and does not cover is listed on this page.
How long does it take to get used to hearing aids?
It takes time, often a few weeks of regular wear, because your brain is relearning sounds it has been missing. Follow-up visits are used to fine-tune the settings.
