Danavox Hearing Aid Accessories: Chargers, TV Streamers and Remote Mic

Audiology9 min read

Danavox hearing aid accessories fall into two groups in our catalogue: chargers for rechargeable hearing aids (Desktop, Standard and Premium) and wireless accessories (a Remote Control, TV-Streamer 2, TV-Streamer+ and the Multi-Mic+ remote microphone). Each one works with compatible hearing aids only, so the right accessory depends on the model you wear and on the situations where you struggle most.

Accessories are optional. Many people with hearing loss manage well with their hearing aids alone, while others find that one well-chosen accessory makes the television, a noisy restaurant or a meeting room much easier. This guide explains what each accessory in our catalogue does, who it may help and what to check before asking for one at our clinic in Muscat.

What are Danavox hearing aid accessories?

They are add-on devices made to work alongside Danavox hearing aids. A charger powers rechargeable models. A wireless accessory either sends sound straight into the hearing aids (from a TV, or from a microphone placed near the person speaking) or lets you control the hearing aids without touching them.

None of them replaces a hearing aid, and none of them changes the way your hearing aids are programmed for your hearing test results. They help the hearing aids do their job in specific places. You can see all seven items on our hearing aid accessories page. They are not sold online: availability, price and compatibility with your hearing aids are confirmed by our team.

Chargers for rechargeable hearing aids

A charger only matters if your hearing aids are rechargeable. In our catalogue, rechargeable models are found in the KLAR, Boreal, Brisa, Astro Core, Astro Pro and Astro Pro SP families, but not every model in those families is rechargeable: several use disposable zinc-air batteries instead. Check the battery listed for your exact model, or ask us. The three chargers differ mainly in where and how you charge.

Danavox Desktop Charger

Danavox describes it as a plug-and-play charger with a simple, elegant design that fits easily into a daily routine.

  • Suits people who charge in the same place every night, such as a bedside table.
  • Plug in, place the hearing aids in the charger, and take them out in the morning.

Danavox Standard Charger

A carry-case style charger with a lid and a removable cable. It protects the hearing aids and charges them when it is connected to a power source.

  • The lid gives the hearing aids a protected place to sit when they are not in your ears.
  • The removable cable makes it practical to pack when you are away from home, as long as you have access to a power source.

Danavox Premium Charger

A powerbank-style charger with a built-in battery. According to Danavox, it allows portable charging on the go without the need for a power outlet.

  • May suit people who travel often, spend long days away from home, or simply want a backup when no socket is nearby.
  • Like the other chargers, it is used with compatible rechargeable hearing aids.

For everyday charging habits, read hearing aid batteries and charging, which covers what to do each night and how to look after the charger.

Wireless accessories

These accessories are about hearing specific sounds more easily or controlling your hearing aids more simply. Whether a given accessory will connect to your hearing aids depends on the model, so treat each description below as general and confirm compatibility with us.

Remote Control

The catalogue lists three things: it changes programs and adjusts volume, it has large easy-to-use buttons, and it has a lock key to avoid accidental activation.

  • May help people who find the small buttons on the hearing aids hard to feel or press.
  • Useful for anyone who does not want to reach up to the ear in company.
  • A family member can also learn to use it when helping an older relative.

TV-Streamer 2

Danavox says it streams sound from a TV, a computer or a music system, reconnects automatically, and has a range of 23 feet.

  • The sound goes into your hearing aids, so others in the room can keep the TV volume at a level that suits them.
  • It may help when the TV is the main daily source of family arguments about volume.

TV-Streamer+

According to Danavox, TV-Streamer+ gives speech clarity at your preferred volume, has a sleek lightweight design and is Made for Auracast. Auracast is a Bluetooth broadcast audio technology; whether you can use it depends on your hearing aids, so ask about your model.

Multi-Mic+

Multi-Mic+ is a remote microphone. Danavox describes it as the world's first remote mic with Auracast, says it gives exceptional speech understanding in noise, and says it extends hearing range by up to 80 feet. In practice, a remote microphone is placed near the person you want to hear, or clipped to their clothing, and their voice is sent to your hearing aids.

  • May help in restaurants, family gatherings, meetings, lectures or in the car, where the speaker is at a distance or there is background noise.
  • It does not make every voice in the room clearer; it brings forward the voice closest to the microphone.

The U.S. National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) explains that assistive listening devices are meant to bring forward the sounds you want to hear, especially where there is a lot of background noise, and that they can work alongside a hearing aid. A remote microphone follows the same idea.

How to choose the right accessory for you

Before asking for any accessory, think about the moments when you still struggle with your hearing aids:

  1. Is the problem the TV? A TV streamer is the usual starting point.
  2. Is it one speaker in noise or at a distance? A remote microphone such as Multi-Mic+ is designed for that.
  3. Is it handling the hearing aids? A remote control with large buttons may help, and so may a rechargeable model with a simple charger.
  4. Is it charging away from home? Compare the Standard Charger (carry case, needs a power source) with the Premium Charger (built-in battery).
  5. Which hearing aids do you wear? Compatibility comes first. Bring your hearing aids, or their model name, to the appointment.

If you are still choosing hearing aids, mention the accessories that interest you early. Connectivity differs between families: for example, the KLAR and BARANI families list Auracast-enabled accessories, while the Astro Pro SP family lists that it works with TV-Streamer+ and Multi-Mic+. The hearing aids catalogue shows each family's connectivity. The final choice of hearing aid and accessory is made with the audiologist during a Danavox hearing aid fitting consultation, after your hearing test.

Accessories also affect cost. We do not publish prices; accessories are one of the things that change the total, along with technology level, style, rechargeable or battery power, and one or two hearing aids. You only need the accessories you will actually use.

Setting up and using an accessory

Accessories are paired and set up with your hearing aids, and the audiologist can show you how to use them during your fitting or a follow-up visit. A few practical habits help:

  • Keep chargers clean and dry, and away from heat and direct sun.
  • Keep the remote control and streamers where the whole family knows to find them.
  • Tell us if an accessory stops connecting; it may be a setting rather than a fault.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need accessories with my hearing aids?

Not necessarily. Many people use their hearing aids without any accessory. Accessories are worth considering when a specific situation, such as TV, distance or noise, remains difficult after your hearing aids have been fine-tuned.

Will any Danavox accessory work with any Danavox hearing aid?

No. Each accessory works with compatible hearing aids, and compatibility depends on the model. Our team confirms it for your exact hearing aids before you request an accessory.

Can I buy Danavox accessories online from your website?

No. Our products are not sold online. The accessories page is for information and requests; availability, price and compatibility are confirmed by our team.

Is a remote microphone the same as a hearing aid?

No. A remote microphone picks up the voice of the person near it and sends it to your hearing aids. It works together with hearing aids that have been programmed for your hearing; it does not replace them.
