Best Rechargeable Danavox Hearing Aids

Audiology9 min read

The best rechargeable Danavox hearing aid for you is the one whose style, power and technology level match your hearing test, your ears and your daily routine. In our published catalogue, Danavox rechargeable hearing aids come in 33 models (three of them CROS transmitters) across six families: Brisa (11), Boreal (9), Astro Core (4), Astro Pro (4), Astro Pro SP (3) and KLAR (2). They range from small receiver-in-ear designs to Super Power behind-the-ear models.

This guide is about choosing between those models; the general pros and cons of rechargeable versus disposable batteries are covered in rechargeable vs disposable-battery hearing aids. Being in a family does not make a model rechargeable. Several families mix rechargeable and zinc-air models, so always check the exact model.

Which Danavox families include rechargeable models?

Here is what the published catalogue lists, family by family, with exact model names.

Brisa: 11 rechargeable models

  • 3 MicroRIE models: XF560S-DRWC, XF760S-DRWC and XF960S-DRWC (Select, Advanced and Premium).
  • 3 Standard BTE models: XF577-DWC, XF777-DWC and XF977-DWC.
  • 3 Power BTE models: XF588-DWC, XF788-DWC and XF988-DWC.
  • 2 CROS transmitters, one RIC (XF160S-DRWC) and one BTE (XF177-DWC), used when one ear has no usable hearing.
  • Danavox describes Brisa as the "smallest rechargeable RIE style". The three Brisa RIC models (XF561-DRW, XF761-DRW and XF961-DRW) use 312 zinc-air batteries instead.

You can see every model on the Brisa family page.

Boreal: 9 rechargeable models

  • 3 MiniRIE models: XD560-DRWC, XD760-DRWC and XD960-DRWC.
  • 3 Standard BTE models: XD577-DWC, XD777-DWC and XD977-DWC.
  • 3 Power BTE models: XD588-DWC, XD788-DWC and XD988-DWC.
  • Danavox lists "rechargeable all-day power from quick recharge" among Boreal's key features. The three Boreal RIC models (XD561-DRW, XD761-DRW and XD961-DRW) run on 312 zinc-air batteries.

Details are on the Boreal family page.

Astro Core: 4 rechargeable models

  • 2 RIC models: XH360-DRWC (Essential) and XH460-DRWC (Essential Plus).
  • 2 Super Power BTE models: XH398-DWHC and XH498-DWHC.
  • The other two Astro Core models, XH361-DRW and XH461-DRW, use 312 zinc-air batteries.

Astro Pro: 4 rechargeable models

  • 3 MicroRIE models: XG560S-DRWC, XG760S-DRWC and XG960S-DRWC.
  • 1 CROS transmitter (RIC): XG160S-DRWC.
  • The Astro Pro RIC models XG561-DRW, XG761-DRW and XG961-DRW use 312 zinc-air batteries.

Astro Pro SP: 3 rechargeable models

  • All three models are rechargeable Super Power BTE: XG598-DWHC, XG798-DWHC and XG998-DWHC.
  • Danavox calls them the "world's smallest rechargeable Super Power hearing aids". As with any Super Power fitting, suitability depends on your hearing test.

KLAR: 2 rechargeable models

  • 2 RIC models: XC361-DRWC (Essential) and XC461-DRWC (Essential Plus).
  • The other ten KLAR models use zinc-air batteries, including both KLAR CIC models, which take size 10 batteries. In other words, the catalogue has no rechargeable in-canal (CIC) model.

Barani and Anthe, the remaining two families, have no rechargeable models in the published catalogue; all their models use zinc-air batteries.

How to narrow the choice

Rechargeability is only one filter. Your audiologist works through these questions with you, using your results:

  1. How much amplification do you need? The small MicroRIE, MiniRIE and RIC designs come with several receiver options (LP, MP, HP and UP in the catalogue, plus MM for the MicroRIE and MiniRIE models), which the audiologist selects for your audiogram. Rechargeable behind-the-ear options include Standard and Power BTE models in Brisa and Boreal (plus Brisa's BTE CROS transmitter) and Super Power BTE models in Astro Core and Astro Pro SP, the category considered when a test shows more severe loss.
  2. How much does size matter to you? Rechargeable designs with the receiver in the ear include RIC models in KLAR (XC361-DRWC, XC461-DRWC) and Astro Core (XH360-DRWC, XH460-DRWC), the MicroRIE models (Brisa, Astro Pro) and the MiniRIE models (Boreal). BTE models are larger but easier to hold.
  3. Does one ear have no usable hearing? The rechargeable CROS transmitters in Brisa and Astro Pro are designed for that situation.
  4. Which technology level fits your day? Astro Core and KLAR come in Essential and Essential Plus. Brisa, Boreal, Astro Pro and Astro Pro SP come in Select, Advanced and Premium, with the higher levels adapting more automatically to noisy, changing places.
  5. How comfortable are you with small parts? A rechargeable model removes battery changes, but domes, wax guards and filters still need regular care, and larger models are easier for some hands.

The final recommendation is made at a Danavox hearing aid fitting consultation after your hearing has been assessed, not from a model list.

Danavox chargers: Desktop, Standard and Premium

Each rechargeable hearing aid needs a compatible charger. Our accessories page lists three Danavox chargers:

  • Desktop Charger: described by Danavox as a plug-and-play charger with a simple design that fits into daily routines.
  • Standard Charger: a carry-case style charger with a lid and a removable cable. It protects the hearing aids and charges them when connected to a power source.
  • Premium Charger: a powerbank-style charger with its own battery. According to Danavox, it gives up to three days of portable charging without a power outlet, which can help when travelling.

Which charger works with which model, and availability, are confirmed by our team before you decide.

How long does a charge last?

For many of the rechargeable models above, the Danavox portfolio notes read "all-day battery on one charge", a claim Danavox marks with an asterisk. Real use varies with wearing hours, streaming and programming, so we quote no number of hours. If the charge seems short, bring the hearing aids and charger to a follow-up visit.

A simple daily routine

  1. Morning: take the hearing aids out of the charger, check they are clean and dry, and put them on.
  2. During the day: wear them as usual. If you take them off for a while, store them in their case or the charger.
  3. Evening: wipe them with a soft dry cloth, check domes and wax guards, then place them in the charger.
  4. Overnight: keep the charger connected to power (or charged, for the Premium Charger) so the hearing aids are ready in the morning.

Care in Oman's heat and humidity

Most of the rechargeable models listed above are IP68-rated, according to Danavox. IP68 is a dust and water resistance rating, but it does not make a hearing aid immune to heat or liquids, and NIDCD advises keeping hearing aids away from heat and moisture. In a hot, humid climate:

  • Wipe sweat off the hearing aids each evening before charging.
  • Keep the charger in a cool, dry place indoors, not in a car or a sunny window.
  • Avoid putting damp hearing aids straight into the charger; dry them first.
  • Remember that hearing aids dropped into liquids are not covered by the warranty.

After you choose

Every Danavox hearing aid from Jordan Hearing & Speech comes with a one-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects and maintenance. During the warranty there is a periodic visit every three months that includes a hearing test (audiogram), programming and free maintenance. It does not cover breakage, misuse, cut wires or hearing aids dropped into liquids, and it requires that the hearing aids are not programmed at another hearing centre and that no repair is attempted by a technician outside our centre. After-sales services include programming, fine-tuning, maintenance, follow-up, cleaning, periodic check-ups and home support for patients who are unable to come to the clinic.

We do not publish prices. What changes the price is the technology level, the style, rechargeable or battery power, one or two hearing aids and any accessories. You can request a quote for a specific model or book an assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Which Danavox families have rechargeable models?

In our published catalogue: Brisa (11 rechargeable models), Boreal (9), Astro Core (4), Astro Pro (4), Astro Pro SP (3) and KLAR (2), which makes 33 in total, including three CROS transmitters (two in Brisa, one in Astro Pro). Barani and Anthe have no rechargeable models. Within each family, check the exact model, because some models use zinc-air batteries.

Is there a rechargeable option for severe hearing loss?

The catalogue includes rechargeable Super Power BTE models in Astro Core and Astro Pro SP, the category considered when a hearing test shows more severe hearing loss. Danavox's range also includes rechargeable Power BTE models in Brisa and Boreal. Whether any of them suits you depends on your hearing test and fitting, so the audiologist confirms it.

Is there a rechargeable hearing aid that sits inside the ear canal?

Not in the published catalogue. The KLAR CIC models are the in-canal options, and both use size 10 zinc-air batteries. The rechargeable receiver-in-ear options are the MicroRIE models in Brisa and Astro Pro, the MiniRIE models in Boreal and the rechargeable RIC models in KLAR and Astro Core.

Do I need to buy a charger separately?

Every rechargeable hearing aid needs a compatible charger, and a rechargeable model includes a charger. Danavox also offers the Desktop, Standard and Premium chargers; our team confirms which one works with your model.
