Danavox Barani Models: All 12 Hearing Aids by Style and Technology Level

Audiology8 min read

The Danavox Barani models in our catalogue are 12 hearing aids in four styles, three of each: receiver-in-canal (RIC), Mini BTE, Standard BTE and Power BTE. Each style comes in three technology levels, Select (12 channels), Advanced (14 channels) and Premium (17 channels). All twelve use disposable zinc-air batteries, size 312 or size 13; none of the Barani models in our catalogue is rechargeable.

The family page introduces BARANI as a whole. This guide goes one step further and helps you see which model inside the family might fit you: every model grouped by style, with its battery, level, channels and the portfolio notes from the catalogue. The final choice is made with an audiologist after a hearing test, because the right hearing aid depends on your results, your ears and how you spend your day.

What Danavox says about the BARANI family

According to Danavox, BARANI offers a "distortion-free sound experience", is "designed for everyday use" and gives "crystal clear phone calls and streaming". The manufacturer lists these key features for the family:

  • A dynamic range of up to 116 dB SPL.
  • An IP68 rating (all-weatherproof). Every Barani model in our catalogue carries the note "IP68 certified". IP68 describes resistance to dust and water; it does not make a hearing aid suitable for swimming.
  • Binaural Directionality III.
  • Impulse Noise Reduction.
  • Remote fine-tuning software, and Live Assist and Online Services capability.

The last point is a manufacturer feature. Whether any remote service is offered for your hearing aids is something to ask at the clinic rather than assume.

For connectivity, Danavox lists crystal clear phone calls and easy streaming, hands-free calls from iPhone, iPad and compatible Android devices (iPhone 11 or later, iOS 15.3 or later), and Auracast-enabled accessories. Our guide to using hearing aids with your phone, TV and accessories explains how streaming works day to day.

You can see all twelve on the Danavox BARANI family page.

Danavox Barani models by style

Receiver-in-canal (RIC): 3 models

  • XA561-DRW: Select, 12 channels, size 312 zinc-air battery.
  • XA761-DRW: Advanced, 14 channels, size 312 zinc-air battery.
  • XA961-DRW: Premium, 17 channels, size 312 zinc-air battery.

Portfolio notes: receiver options LP, MP, HP and UP; a programmable push button or toggle; IP68 certified. The portfolio also mentions telecoil and DAI (direct audio input) in a "62-DRW" version, which is not one of the models in our catalogue, so ask the audiologist if a telecoil matters to you. The same portfolio row carries the note "all-day battery on one charge", but every Barani RIC in our catalogue runs on a size 312 zinc-air battery, so treat these as battery models. See the XA961-DRW model page.

Mini BTE: 3 models

  • XA567-DWT: Select, 12 channels, size 312 zinc-air battery.
  • XA767-DWT: Advanced, 14 channels, size 312 zinc-air battery.
  • XA967-DWT: Premium, 17 channels, size 312 zinc-air battery.

Notes: programmable push button, telecoil, IP68 certified. BARANI is the only Danavox family in our catalogue with a Mini BTE style. Details are on the XA967-DWT model page.

Standard BTE: 3 models

  • XA577-DWT: Select, 12 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.
  • XA777-DWT: Advanced, 14 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.
  • XA977-DWT: Premium, 17 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.

Notes: push button and toggle, telecoil and DAI, IP68 certified.

Power BTE: 3 models

  • XA588-DWT: Select, 12 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.
  • XA788-DWT: Advanced, 14 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.
  • XA988-DWT: Premium, 17 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.

Notes: push button and toggle, telecoil and DAI, IP68 certified. Power BTE models are built for more amplification than the standard ones. BARANI has no Super Power BTE in our catalogue; families that do include KLAR, Anthe, Astro Core and Astro Pro SP. NIDCD describes behind-the-ear hearing aids as used for mild to profound hearing loss.

Select, Advanced or Premium?

The model code tells you the level. In BARANI, a "5" after "XA" is Select with 12 channels, a "7" is Advanced with 14 channels and a "9" is Premium with 17 channels. The last two digits show the style: 61 for RIC, 67 for Mini BTE, 77 for Standard BTE and 88 for Power BTE.

More channels let the audiologist shape the sound in finer steps, and a higher technology level usually adapts more automatically to noisy and changing places. If most of your day is quiet, a higher level may add little; if you spend a lot of time in meetings, gatherings or restaurants, the difference is worth discussing. The audiologist can explain what each level means for your results.

Batteries: what to expect

All BARANI models in our catalogue use disposable zinc-air batteries:

  • Size 312: the RIC and Mini BTE models.
  • Size 13: the Standard BTE and Power BTE models.

If you would rather charge your hearing aids overnight, BARANI is not the family to start with in our catalogue; KLAR, Boreal, Brisa, Astro Core, Astro Pro and Astro Pro SP include rechargeable models. Battery models suit people who are comfortable changing a small battery and like carrying spares.

Who might each BARANI style suit?

These are starting points to discuss, not recommendations. Your hearing test and your ears decide.

  • RIC (XA561-DRW, XA761-DRW, XA961-DRW): people who want a small case behind the ear with the receiver in the canal, a choice of four receivers and phone streaming.
  • Mini BTE (XA567-DWT, XA767-DWT, XA967-DWT): people who prefer the whole hearing aid behind the ear but in a smaller case, with a telecoil.
  • Standard BTE (XA577-DWT, XA777-DWT, XA977-DWT): people who want a larger device that is easier to hold, with push button, toggle, telecoil and DAI.
  • Power BTE (XA588-DWT, XA788-DWT, XA988-DWT): people whose results show more significant hearing loss and who need more amplification than a standard BTE gives.

Tell the audiologist about glasses, a hijab or a ghutra, how much you use the phone and how often you are in noisy places. These details often decide between two styles that would both work on paper.

How the choice is made

  1. Hearing test: shows the type and degree of hearing loss in each ear and whether anything needs medical attention first.
  2. Style and level: the audiologist narrows the family to the styles and receivers that suit your results, then the technology level that suits your routine.
  3. Fitting: the hearing aid is programmed to your results, with ear impressions for custom moulds when needed.
  4. Follow-up: fine-tuning as you get used to the sound.

As an authorised Danavox (GN Hearing) dealer in Oman, we cover selection, programming and follow-up through our Danavox hearing aid fitting service. If your hearing drops suddenly, seek same-day medical care.
