Danavox Anthe Models: The 6 Power and Super Power BTE Hearing Aids
The Danavox Anthe models in our catalogue are 6 behind-the-ear hearing aids: 3 Power BTE models that use a size 13 zinc-air battery and 3 Super Power BTE models that use a size 675 zinc-air battery. Each style comes in three technology levels, Select (12 channels), Advanced (14 channels) and Premium (17 channels). None of the Anthe models in our catalogue is rechargeable, and there are no in-the-ear or receiver-in-canal styles in this family.
Anthe is the most focused family in our Danavox catalogue: it exists for people who need high levels of amplification. The family page gives the overview. This guide goes model by model so you can see what changes between the six, who each might suit, and what to ask before a fitting. The final choice is always made with an audiologist after a hearing test.
What Danavox says about the Anthe family
According to Danavox, Anthe offers "super power performance for high levels of amplification", is "designed for everyday use" and gives "crystal clear phone calls and streaming". The key features the manufacturer lists for the family are:
- Impulse Noise Reduction.
- Binaural Directionality III.
- DFS Ultra II feedback elimination.
- A dynamic range of up to 116 dB SPL.
- An IP68 rating (all-weatherproof). Every Anthe model in our catalogue carries the note "IP68 certified". IP68 means resistance to dust and water, not suitability for swimming.
- A "speech understanding boost of 50% for clearer phone calls", which is the manufacturer's own claim.
For connectivity, Danavox lists streaming of calls, music and more; compatibility with iPhone, iPad and Android; hands-free calls on iPhone 11 or later and select iPad models (iOS 15.3 or later); and Auracast-enabled accessories.
You can see all six on the Danavox Anthe family page.
Danavox Anthe models by style
Power BTE: 3 models
- XA588-DWHT: Select, 12 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.
- XA788-DWHT: Advanced, 14 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.
- XA988-DWHT: Premium, 17 channels, size 13 zinc-air battery.
Portfolio notes: push button and toggle, a metal hook for the High Power 88-DWHT, telecoil and DAI (direct audio input), IP68 certified. You can read more on the XA588-DWHT model page.
A practical note: the Barani family also has Power BTE models with similar codes ending in -DWT (for example XA588-DWT). The Anthe Power BTE codes end in -DWHT and carry the metal hook note. They are listed as separate models in the catalogue, so always quote the full code when you ask about one.
Super Power BTE: 3 models
- XA598-DWT: Select, 12 channels, size 675 zinc-air battery.
- XA798-DWT: Advanced, 14 channels, size 675 zinc-air battery.
- XA998-DWT: Premium, 17 channels, size 675 zinc-air battery.
Portfolio notes: programmable push button and toggle, telecoil and DAI, IP68 certified. Details are on the XA998-DWT model page.
Super Power BTE hearing aids are built for greater amplification and are considered when a hearing test shows more severe hearing loss. NIDCD describes behind-the-ear hearing aids as used by people of all ages for mild to profound hearing loss. Our article on hearing aids for severe to profound hearing loss covers that wider topic.
Reading the Anthe model codes
The six codes follow a simple pattern that you can check against the catalogue:
- The digit after "XA" is the level: 5 is Select (12 channels), 7 is Advanced (14 channels), 9 is Premium (17 channels).
- The next two digits are the style: 88 is Power BTE, 98 is Super Power BTE.
So XA788-DWHT is the Advanced Power BTE, and XA598-DWT is the Select Super Power BTE. The catalogue does not explain every suffix letter, so we do not guess at them here.
Power or Super Power?
The main difference between the two Anthe groups is the amount of amplification they are built for and the battery they use:
- Power BTE uses a size 13 battery.
- Super Power BTE uses a larger size 675 battery.
Which one fits is decided from your audiogram, not from a preference. The audiologist looks at how much hearing you have at each pitch in each ear and chooses the group that can deliver enough sound comfortably. A model that is more powerful than you need is not automatically better; a well-fitted hearing aid at the right power level usually sounds more comfortable.
Select, Advanced or Premium?
Within each group, the three levels share the same style, battery and notes. What changes is the technology level and the number of channels: 12, 14 or 17. More channels let the audiologist shape the sound in finer steps, and a higher level usually adapts more automatically to noisy and changing places. If your days are mostly at home, a higher level may add less than it would for someone in meetings, majlis gatherings or busy shops. This is a conversation to have with the audiologist once your results are known.
Living with a power BTE
Anthe models are behind-the-ear devices that use zinc-air batteries, which brings a few everyday points:
- Batteries: you will change size 13 or size 675 batteries rather than charging overnight. Larger batteries are generally easier to handle than tiny ones, which many people appreciate. Anthe has no rechargeable model in our catalogue.
- Earmoulds: a behind-the-ear hearing aid sends sound through a tube to an earmould or tip in the ear. When needed, an impression of your ear is taken at the clinic to make a custom mould.
- Feedback: Danavox lists DFS Ultra II feedback elimination for the family. Whistling can still happen if a mould no longer fits well, so mention it at follow-up visits.
- Telecoil and DAI: all six models carry these notes. NIDCD explains that a telecoil is a small magnetic coil that lets the hearing aid receive sound through its circuitry. Ask the audiologist how it can be set up for you.
- Controls: the push button and toggle let you change programs or volume as set by your audiologist.
Who might Anthe suit?
These are starting points to discuss, not recommendations:
- People whose hearing test shows more severe hearing loss and who need high amplification in a behind-the-ear design.
- People who want phone streaming and Auracast-enabled accessories in a power device.
- People who use a telecoil or direct audio input with other equipment.
People with milder hearing loss, or who want a rechargeable or in-the-ear style, will usually look at other families. The audiologist decides with you after the test.
How the choice is made
- Hearing test: shows the type and degree of hearing loss in each ear and whether anything needs medical attention first.
- Power group: Power BTE or Super Power BTE, chosen from your results.
- Level: Select, Advanced or Premium, chosen around your routine.
- Fitting and follow-up: programming, ear impressions when needed, then fine-tuning as you get used to the sound.
As an authorised Danavox (GN Hearing) dealer in Oman, we handle this from assessment to follow-up through our Danavox hearing aid fitting service. If your hearing drops suddenly, seek same-day medical care.

Is Anthe only for profound hearing loss?
Anthe is built for high levels of amplification, so it is generally considered for more severe hearing loss. Whether it suits you, and which group, depends on your hearing test.
