Hearing Aid Prices in Oman: What Determines the Cost?

Audiology7 min read

There is no single hearing aid price in Oman, because the cost depends on which hearing aid suits your hearing. Five things change the price: the technology level, the style, rechargeable or disposable batteries, one or two hearing aids, and any accessories. We do not publish prices online; instead, we explain the options after an assessment or give you a quote for a specific model.

If you searched for "hearing aid price Oman", you have probably noticed that two quotes can look very different. This guide explains what drives the cost, what a quote should tell you, and why the cheapest number is not always the best value.

Why there is no one hearing aid price Oman clinics can quote

A hearing aid is chosen from your hearing test results, your ear and your daily life. Two people with the same budget may need different devices: one may need a powerful behind-the-ear model, another a small receiver-in-canal model with phone streaming. A price given before anyone knows your hearing is a guess. That is why the first step is an assessment, and our hearing test service needs no referral.

The NIDCD makes a similar point: ask about the total cost, and don't use price alone to determine the best hearing aid for you.

The five things that change the cost

1. Technology level

The technology level decides how much the hearing aid adapts automatically to noisy and changing places. In the Danavox families in our hearing aids catalogue, levels are named Essential and Essential Plus (KLAR and Astro Core) and Select, Advanced and Premium (BARANI, Anthe, Boreal, Brisa, Astro Pro and Astro Pro SP). Higher levels generally do more automatically; whether you need that depends on how varied and noisy your days are. Our article on hearing aid technology levels explains the differences.

2. Style

Behind the ear, receiver in the canal, or custom in the ear. The catalogue includes RIC, MiniRIE and MicroRIE models, Mini, Standard, Power and Super Power BTE models, and KLAR CIC models worn in the ear canal. The style is chosen for your degree of hearing loss, your ear and how easily you handle small devices, not only for appearance.

3. Rechargeable or disposable batteries

A rechargeable model includes a charger; battery models need replacement batteries. Rechargeable models are found in KLAR, Boreal, Brisa, Astro Core, Astro Pro and Astro Pro SP, while other models use zinc-air batteries, so check the individual model.

4. One or two hearing aids

This depends on the hearing in each ear. Your hearing test shows whether one or both ears need help. See one hearing aid or two? for how that decision is made.

5. Accessories

TV streamers, remote microphones or a remote control, only if you need them. Danavox accessories include chargers, the TV-Streamer 2, the TV-Streamer+, the Multi-Mic+ remote microphone and a remote control, which work with compatible hearing aids. Many people never need any accessory.

Why one quote is not the same as another

When comparing quotes, make sure you are comparing like with like. Two quotes can differ because they:

  • Are for different technology levels, even within the same brand.
  • Cover one hearing aid in one quote and two in the other.
  • Include a rechargeable model with its charger, or a battery model.
  • Include accessories in one quote but not the other.
  • Include different after-sales care, such as follow-up visits, programming and maintenance.
  • Come with different warranty terms and conditions.

A lower number that leaves out follow-up or uses a device that does not suit your hearing can cost you more in the end, in frustration and in a hearing aid left in a drawer.

Common mistakes when comparing prices

  • Choosing before a hearing test: you may pay for more power than you need, or for a device that cannot help enough.
  • Comparing the price of one hearing aid with a pair: one quote looks cheaper but covers only one ear.
  • Ignoring running costs: battery models need replacement batteries, while a rechargeable model comes with its charger.
  • Buying accessories you will not use: they help people who struggle with the TV or a distant speaker, but not everyone needs them.
  • Forgetting after-sales care: programming, fine-tuning, cleaning and follow-up shape how much you benefit from the device.
  • Relying on "the best hearing aids" in general: the best for someone else is not necessarily the best for you.

What to ask when you request a quote

  1. Which exact model is this, and what technology level?
  2. Is the price for one hearing aid or a pair?
  3. Is it rechargeable (with a charger) or does it use replaceable batteries?
  4. Which accessories, if any, are included, and do I actually need them?
  5. What is included after the purchase: programming, fine-tuning, follow-up, maintenance and cleaning?
  6. What does the warranty cover, what does it not cover, and what conditions apply?
  7. Was the recommendation based on my own hearing test?

Value beyond the device: follow-up and warranty

A hearing aid is fine-tuned over follow-up visits as you get used to it, so after-sales care is part of what you are paying for. Our after-sales services include programming, fine-tuning, maintenance, follow-up, cleaning, periodic check-ups and home support for patients who are unable to come to the clinic.

Every Danavox hearing aid from Jordan Hearing & Speech comes with a one-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects and maintenance. During the warranty there is a periodic visit every three months that includes a hearing test (audiogram), programming and free maintenance. The warranty does not cover breakage, misuse, cut wires or hearing aids dropped into liquids, and it applies on condition that the hearing aids are not programmed at another hearing centre and no repair is attempted by a technician who is not part of our centre.

When you compare prices, include these services in the comparison.

Frequently asked questions

How much do hearing aids cost in Oman?

It depends on the technology level, the style, rechargeable or battery power, one or two hearing aids and any accessories. We do not publish prices online; request a quote for a specific model or book an assessment.

Why don't you publish prices online?

Because the right hearing aid depends on your assessment. A price without a hearing test would not tell you whether that device suits you.

Is a cheaper hearing aid good enough?

It can be, if it suits your hearing and the way you live. The technology level, style and features should match your test results and daily needs, which is why the assessment comes first.

Does the price include follow-up?

Ask what is included in any quote. Hearing aids from us come with after-sales care and a one-year warranty, including a periodic visit every three months during the warranty.
